2003 Michael was runner-up in the Aspect Painting Prize (previously Kennox Prize)
In 2003 he was elected a Professional member of Visual Arts Scotland and an Artist member of Paisley Art Institute. He was elected as an Artist Member of The Glasgow Art Club in 2006.
